Good news, Wii and Wii U users. The Angry Birds Trilogy is flying into both Nintendo systems on Aug. 13.
Trilogy features the three best-selling Angry Birds games — the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio. The disc includes 140 hours of "comical, addictive gameplay," and 30 episodes, plus new levels that are exclusive to the Wii and Wii U. It also boasts Wii U Gamepad and TV swap capability, as well as touch-screen controls and online leaderboards, game developer Rovio said in its announcement.
The announcement comes two weeks after Rovio teased its "most thrilling and action-packed game yet!," and promised more details this summer.
"All your favorite characters are returning for a brand new title that will bring you closer to Piggy Island than ever before," the company said. "It's Angry Birds, but not as you know it!" The super-secretive game does not have a launch date; Rovio just urged fans to "look out for more updates over the summer."
Rovio also recently released its first title from a third-party developer as part of its Rovio Stars program. Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage is now available in the App Store.
So besides Angry Birds, what new games can Wii U gamers expect? Holiday shoppers will be able to pick up Super Mario World 3D for the Wii U in December, while Super Smash Bros. and Bayonetta 2 will be released in 2014. For more, check out our story from E3.
